Small but Mighty—An Extension with a Foundation Slab, Arlesheim

Project

A 16 m² floor slab made of cross-laminated timber (CLT) was constructed for the expansion of an existing building. The structure forms the foundation for the new addition and demonstrates that Timbase’s wood technology can be used not only for large-scale projects but also for smaller expansions. The prefabricated wood elements allow for quick and precise assembly on the construction site. At the same time, the lightweight construction reduces the effort required for transportation and assembly. The wood floor slab thus offers a genuine alternative to conventional concrete floor slabs—especially for additions, expansions, and smaller construction projects.
