Hofparadis - Architectural Extension with a Wooden Floor Slab, Allschwil

For the architectural expansion of Hofparadis in Allschwil, architect Rolf Stalder has deliberately opted for a wooden floor slab. From the very beginning, he was certain: the expansion should be built on a wooden floor slab from Timbase. The innovative technology convinced him both in terms of structural integrity and its architectural potential.

The wooden floor slab forms the foundation for the expansion and demonstrates that wood can be a high-performance alternative to conventional solutions even in areas where concrete has traditionally been the primary material. The Hofparadis project thus exemplifies a new generation of construction: wood not only within the building, but also as the load-bearing foundation beneath it.

"As the client for the PARADIS project, I made a conscious decision to use a Timbase wood foundation. I would make this decision again in a heartbeat.
