Modular Passive House - Wooden Floor Slab, BC, Canada

From the Foundation to the Roof—All Made of Wood

In Williams Lake, British Columbia, Canada, a modular two-bedroom residential building was constructed to Passive House standards. Floor, wall, and roof elements were prefabricated and assembled on-site in just one week. What makes this project special is the consistent use of timber construction: Not only the walls and roof, but also the floor slab were constructed as solid wood elements. The Timber Foundation from Timbase thus forms the basis of the entire building. The continuous all-wood construction supports an energy-efficient building envelope optimized for thermal performance.

At the same time, wood creates a pleasant and balanced indoor climate thanks to its natural properties. The project demonstrates how modular construction, the Passive House standard, and a wooden floor slab can be combined into an efficient overall concept.
